HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am proud and excited to share with you a number of new events at the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute.

Three months ago we added a new associate, Dr. Shrey Kanjiya, to our group. Dr. Kanjiya completed his orthopaedic residency at Stony Brook, New York and completed a one year Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic working with the Clippers, Dodgers and Rams!

Dr. Kanjiya specializes in treatment of complex fractures and injuries of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. We are fortunate to have such an outstanding surgeon as part of our group.

I, Dr. Sisto, have been selected again as a Top Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine for 2022. I respect this award as I am selected by my own orthopaedic peers in Los Angeles as we vote for the best orthopaedic doctors in Southern California. I am grateful for this recognition and strive to continue to deliver the most compassionate care I can provide.

Finally, we will be introducing the Shoulder Center at the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute which I have concentrated on and am now ready to introduce in 2022. I have combined the expertise of the shoulder specialist in our group with the top physical therapists in Southern California to deliver the combined ultimate care for disorders of the shoulder. Each of the physical therapy groups in Southern California have been carefully selected to implement our non-operative and post-operative protocols to deliver the most up to date and comprehensive treatment of the shoulder. Each one of our patients will have their own personal therapist working directly with the surgeon to maximize care.

Please watch for the upcoming announcements and our videos as we introduce the Shoulder Center at the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute in the months ahead.

Stay well, Happy New Year and Keep Moving!!

Meet Nikki!!!

One of the most exciting events which has occurred at The Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute is our incorporation of physician assistants in our practice.  Physician assistants (PA) are trained to evaluate patients, perform procedures in the office and the emergency room, assist in surgery and make the hospital rounds to treat our surgical patients.  They are a vital link between the surgeons at LAOI and our patients and they are an indispensible part of our team.

Coury Clemens was one of our first PA’s and he has been with LAOI for nearly three years.  We have recently recruited Nikki Sisto to join our group a few months ago. She graduated from Boston University and completed a 2 1/2 year Physician Assistance program at Pace University in New York City.   She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and we were able to convince her to return home. She has been an amazing asset to our office and she has exceeded all of our expectations!!  She is an excellent assistant in the operating room but her true strengths are her breadth of medical knowledge and her compassion for the patients.  She listens to them and makes every attempt to smooth their recovery following a fracture or major recontructive surgery.

The best part is that her prescence has engergized me and has given me more enthusiasm than ever to teach and continue to deliver the best care to all our patients. Nikki, as you may have guessed, is my daughter and I could not be prouder of her or more excited to come to work each day with her. Her joining our team has been a “dream come true” for me and all of our patients will benefit from working with her as well.

All of our patients are MORE THAN EVER in the best hands at The Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute!

Keep Moving!

Dr. Sisto
